Individual Counselling

Individual Counselling

There are times in life when things don’t feel right — even if you can’t quite explain why.

You might be functioning on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, anxious, unsure of yourself, or quietly worn down. You may have spent a long time putting others first, managing family dynamics, or holding things together without much space for yourself.

Individual counselling offers a place to pause, reflect, and begin to understand what’s really going on for you.

At Living Counselling, I provide individual counselling for adults and teenagers who are wanting support with emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, and the impact of relationships and family experiences.

A space to feel seen and supported

Individual counselling is not about being “fixed” or analysed.

It’s about having a steady, compassionate space where you can talk openly, think things through, and begin to feel more grounded in yourself.

You don’t need to have a clear goal or the right words. Many people come to counselling because they feel stuck, lost, or unsure — not because something dramatic has happened.

We start where you are.

What people seek individual counselling for

People come to individual counselling for many reasons. You may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, stress, or ongoing emotional overwhelm
  • Low self-esteem or self-doubt
  • Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected from yourself
  • Difficult family relationships or long-standing family patterns
  • The impact of caring for or growing up with a loved one who struggles emotionally
  • Repeating relationship patterns that feel hard to shift
  • A desire for greater clarity, confidence, or emotional steadiness

Often it’s a combination of these, rather than one clear issue.

My approach to individual counselling

My work is relational, thoughtful, and grounded in real life.

I take time to understand your story — including your relationships, family experiences, and the context you’re living in now. Together, we gently explore patterns, emotional responses, and ways of coping that may once have helped, but no longer serve you.

Our work may involve:

  • Building emotional awareness and regulation
  • Strengthening self-worth and self-trust
  • Understanding attachment and relationship patterns
  • Exploring family dynamics and their ongoing impact
  • Developing practical strategies for managing anxiety and stress
  • Creating space for reflection, growth, and change

I draw on evidence-based therapeutic approaches, while keeping sessions human, collaborative, and responsive to you.

Online individual counselling

All individual counselling sessions are offered online, allowing you to access support from wherever you are.

Online counselling can be just as effective and meaningful as in-person therapy, particularly when the relationship feels safe, consistent, and attuned.

Many people appreciate the ease, privacy, and flexibility of meeting from their own space.

What sessions are like

Sessions are calm, respectful, and shaped around what feels most important to you.

Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory; others may be more practical or focused. There’s no expectation to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have everything figured out.

This is a space where you’re met with curiosity, care, and respect.

Is individual counselling right for you?

Individual counselling may be a good fit if you’re looking for:

  • A warm, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship
  • Support that acknowledges family and relational dynamics
  • A balance of emotional depth and practical support
  • A space where you can slow down and feel heard

If you’re unsure, a 15-minute discovery call offers a chance to ask questions, share what’s bringing you here, and see whether working together feels right.
